Less than 20% of US adults meet physical activity (PA) recommendations, yet few physicians provide consistent PA counseling. There is limited research on the state of education of PA counseling in medical school curricula. The purpose of this study was to analyze medical students’ perspectives on the current state and perceived quality of PA education in medical school.

- State the percentage of medical students who report receiving formal training on physical activity throughout their medical education
- Recall the average number of hours of physical activity education received each year during medical school
- Recognize medical student perceptions surrounding physical activity education
- Identify perceived barriers to being physically active reported by medical students
- Evaluate limitations and generalizability of survey data
