Dr. McHugh serves as co-chair of the ACLM Women’s Health Member Interest Group with Dr. Cindy Geyer. He was a founding member of the group created by Dr. Michelle Tollefson, and was the first Secretary of the group. He completed his undergraduate degree at Columbia University, received his MD from the joint program of the Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Health Sciences and Technology. Following medical school he completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco. He serves on the Executive Board of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, District IX (California). He continues to serve as Clinical Co-Chair of the California Preconception Health Care Council and as USC Adjunct Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Voluntary). He provides patient care and serves as an OB hospitalist at Huntington and USC Verdugo Hills Hospital in Los Angeles. Since medical school, his interest has been communicating evidence-based best practices to patients and community providers. He has not only authored publications on evidence based wellness and spoken at national forums on both patient and provider wellness, but he has also served as editor for national newsletters focused on bringing evidence based wellness into community practice.
