Jean Tips, Senior Director of Communications
Jean is a health communications executive and wellness advocate.
She most recently was Vice President of Communications and Marketing for the University of North Health Science Center in Fort Worth, a five-school graduate academic medical institution that includes the only osteopathic medical school in Texas. Jean joined the Health Science Center from Kaiser Permanente, where she served as Director of Communications in its Oakland, Calif., headquarters after other holding communication roles in the Northern California Region and South Bay Service Area. Prior to that, Tips did both internal and external communications for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford.
Before entering health care communications, Jean worked as public relations director for several advertising agencies serving Silicon Valley high technology and biotechnology companies. After graduation from the University of Kansas William Allen White School of Journalism, she was an editor for Runner’s World magazines and books and managing editor of California Farmer Magazine.
She received a graduate certificate in Lifestyle Health from UNT Health Science Center in 2015.
In the community, she serves on the boards of The Cowtown Marathon and Foundation for Wellness, Texas’ FitWorth Healthy City Initiative, the latter as a founding member. In 2014, she was named a “Great Woman of Texas” by the Fort Worth Business Press.
